Shoulder Injury:

PRP and Meniscus

"The results are actually beyond my expectations, and I am able to run again and I had thought I would never be able to run again"

I had torn the meniscus on my left knee due to intensive running. I started noticing that the more I ran, the more painful my knee became. It got so bad that I could no longer run and eventually could hardly even walk without pain.

I visited a surgeon who ordered a CT scan. After reviewing the results, it was recommended that I have an operation on my knee. At this point I decided to do some research to see what other alternatives were out there before going ahead with an operation. I came across a story of a soccer player who also tore his meniscus. The soccer player started doing PRP treatments and was able to start playing right away.

I started researching doctors in my local area and came across Dr.. Brown. During my initial consultation, Dr. Brown determined that I would be a good candidate for PRP. I felt like I was well informed of the entire treatment process and booked an appointment for PRP therapy.

I was aware that PRP would be an invasive treatment. The treatments are painful, but it is short lived pain. I had three PRP sessions and within these sessions there were times that a few weeks after treatment, the area being treated felt worse before it got better. Again, I was well aware that this would happen as the area in healing would be more inflamed before it got better.

I am extremely happy with my results. The results are actually beyond my expectations, and I am able to run again and I had thought I would never be able to run again! I would certainly recommend this treatment to anyone looking to do PRP. The main reason I decided to do PRP over any other treatments was that it gave me comfort knowing that my own blood was being used to treat my body. There are no external chemicals being used and I felt good about that aspect of PRP.

Comments on Dr. Brown's Presentation given to the 3rd International Fascia Research Congress 2012, Vancouver, BC

Dr. Hal Brown then gave a presentation showcasing a handful of his clients who had amazing results as a result of prolotherapy.... some really jaw-dropping stuff. For me though, it wasn't the results that impressed, it was the man himself. He clearly studied both eastern and western medicine extensively and had a very interesting view on the human body. During his talk he effortlessly brought both worlds together has he talked about this very interesting from of treatment.

MY PROLOTHERAPY EXPERIENCES WITH DR. HAL BROWN AT THE INTEGRATIVE NATUROPATHIC MEDICAL CENTRE

Prolotherapy works when done properly by a professional specialist and particularly when using an ultra-sound device, like Dr. Hal Brown is doing.

Thank you Dr. Brown

MY BACKGROUND MEDICAL CONDITION

Hello!

My name is Marian Schiopu  owner of MarioFit and I am a former Martial Arts Karate Top Competitor and now a Registered Holistic and Sport Nutritionist and a Mixed Martial Arts Coach Conditioning Expert.

And this is my personal experience in using Dr. Hal Brown’s treatments with prolotherapy regenerative injections for my lumbar and cervical area.

Due to a car accident in 2009, I have been left with stiffness and inflammation to my lower back and rigidity to my neck with increased pain and activated by driving for long periods of time or extended sitting at the computer desk.

Right after the car accident I was diagnosed with Radiculopathy – a condition characterized by irritation of the nerves due to mechanical compression. But in time this condition developed into a steady deep back muscular aching pain with the intensity that range from mild discomfort pain to occasionally excruciating sharp pain. As my back muscles become stiff and painful, the pain extends also into my groin with loss of mobility to my lower limbs.

A specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine diagnosed me with Myofacial Pain Syndrome - a painful condition that affects the muscles and the fascia that surround the muscles.

Hot and cold compressions, massage therapy and chiropractic adjustments and anti-inflammatory pain killer medications helped somehow for temporary relief of my symptoms but the pain was easily activated by sitting or standing for long periods of time.

It was, my chiropractor, who in 2011 first recommended considering prolotherapy or even platelet rich plasma therapy.  I consulted with my family physician, he concluded that I did everything the modern medicine can offer and that I should seek some alternative therapies such as prolotherapy that was recommended to me by my physical therapist.

Seeking for a good and respected expert in prolotherapy, it was recommended to me the medical services of Dr. Hal Brown from Integrative Naturopathic Medical Centre.

DR. HAL BROWN PROLOTHERAPY RESULTS

And in 2011, December I started my first prolotherapy treatment for my lower back. As I got better, the sharp pain disappeared and I was able to exercise again, but with some physical limitations and some stiffness. But the success of Dr. Brown’s treatment culminated in my 2012 performance at the Karate BC Provincial Championship, and despite my age of 50, and my loss of lower limb mobility, I was able to place second and to qualify and to represent our province at the 2013 Karate Canada Championship.

However was not until March of 2014, when Dr. Brown introduced into his practice the ultra-sound ESAOTE device and proposed me to be one of his first clinical patients for prolotherapy.

I have to admit that using this guided ultra sound for my prolotherapy injections, was different this time. I felt that the injection administered to my groin and lower back to go right into the roots of the joints and ligaments where I feel most pain and discomfort. I repeated the treatment once more on January 2015 with considerable results.

But my neck was still stiff and sharply painful with loss of range of motion when looking over my shoulder to the right.  And since I trusted my physical health to Dr. Brown,  on February 2015 I decided to treat my neck also, I found that with only one session of guided ultrasound prolotherapy, my sharp pain to my cervical area disappear and  my range of motion increased considerable right after few days. At the moment after about one month from my cervical treatment, my range of motion is even better, even if some manageable dull,  but not sharp pain still persist.

I will be back soon to have more treatments as I believe in the body’s natural  power of healing when the right treatments such as prolotherapy are applied.

Thank you Dr. Brown.

Respectfully

Marian (Mario) Schiopu

Quoted from the book: "Plan B" By: Mike Harcourt, Former B.C. Premier, and John Lekich

“An inspirational story of Harcourt’s fight back from this near-fatal accident that doctors initially thought could leave him permanently confined to a wheelchair.” (Front flap)

“Mike wanted to draw on the wisdom of Vancouver doctors Hal Brown and Larry Chan who specialized in naturopathic medicine and holistic medicine. Shortly after leaving the rehabilitation centre, he began to address his health problems by integrating a holistic approach. Before his accident, Mike had been their patient for about twenty years. His positive experience with acupuncture and the ancient Chinese practice of chi-gong convinced Mike that these two specialists would play a positive role in his rehab. ‘I was determined to use alternative approaches to supplement more conventional treatments,’ says Mike. ‘I didn’t want to be limited to traditional medicine'.”

“After the accident Dr. Chan and Dr. Brown worked out a specific program to deal with Mike's injury…. ’A whole series of things like the [DMSO] treatments [a series of injections to aid in the restoration of the nerve cells] that got me ready for Hal's acupuncture.’ ”

“ ‘I could feel the flow of the chi like a sort of flush,’ he says. ‘I felt like I was building up my reserves of strength with the naturopath- with vitamins and fish oil'.”

“Combined with some other naturopathic treatments Mike was undergoing- along with more traditional aspects of his health care regime- he began to see results.”

PRP treatments were the most effective for me...

My hip injury in 2005 seemed to be the end of the road....The success of Dr. Brown’s treatment culminated in my 2011 performance at the World Masters Athletics Championship, where I finished 9th out of 27 in the 1500, running my best time since 2005!

As an aging runner who loves to race on the track, injuries were inevitable.  But my hip injury in 2005 seemed to be the end of the road.  After two MRIs, a bone scan, x-rays, opinions from 3 different sports med doctors, countless visits to physiotherapists, massage therapists, chiropractors and IMS treatments, my injury was still undiagnosed and problematic in 2010.  While I was able to run, my hip injury always reoccurred when the training intensified.  Then I went to see Dr. Brown.  In my first assessment, I was shocked by his diagnosis of how weak my legs were.  I am a runner and hiker so how could my legs be so weak?  On top of this was adrenal fatigue and overall exhaustion.  I then embarked on a series of Prolotherapy and PRP treatments along with herbal supplements to address the fatigue.  The PRP treatments were the most effective for me. During the balance of 2010 and in 2011, I continued to improve.  The success of Dr. Brown’s treatment culminated in my 2011 performance at the World Masters Athletics Championship, where I finished 9th out of 27 in the 1500, running my best time since 2005!  Even better is my continued health as an athlete with the renewed prospects of many more years of competition, thanks to Dr. Brown!

After 3 PRP treatments over 4 months, ... He can now play hockey as well as basketball without suffering from wrist pains.

Dear Dr. Hal,

I would like to thank you and express my deepest appreciation for your treatment of my son, Evan. He had been suffering for more than half a year from a pain in his right wrist. Physiotherapy treatments did not work well on him. It was fortunate that we found your website when I heard about PRP therapy on the news and looked for PRP specialists around Vancouver.

After 3 PRP treatments over 4 months, I am so glad that he is feeling much better and no longer suffering from the pain that kept him playing hockey. He can now play hockey as well as basketball without suffering from wrist pains.

I am recommending PRP Treatment to anyone who is suffering from similar injuries for quick and effective cure.

Thank you again and I hope you would continue sharing your abilities to others in need.

Sincerely,

Chizu Kobayashi, Vancouver BC

PRP for knee osteoarthritis: Two orthopedic surgeons maintained I had a degenerative, osteoarthritic  knee, with very little meniscus left.... insisting I give up soccer and get an artificial knee... two treatments of prolotherapy and 2 treatments of PRP therapy...I am able to walk, jog and/or ride my bike after playing soccer a day later with out my previous characteristic limp...or need for Advil....  I am very pleased with the results.

Let me first give you some history of my knee. In 1978, I was a passenger in a car in Scotland that was involved in a fairly violent and deadly head-on collision. I broke my right femur. Spent 8 weeks in hospital in Aberdeen by which time the knee had completely frozen. Took me a year of intense phiso and walking to get 70% of the flexibility back in my right knee. A year after that I was back playing soccer but had a lot of fluid in both knees. So I undertook orthoscopic surgery on both knees where they went in scraped them clean and vacuumed them out. About 15 years ago they started to give me problems; mostly my right. Pain which then had me to favoring my right with a slight limp. My right thigh (Quad muscles) atrophied somewhat because of the favoring and you can see that to this day, my right quads are a little smaller then my left. I was able to play soccer by taking lots of Advil, before and after and then for sleep. Next day or two I would hobble around, really favoring my right and by the third day I was good to go and would be back out playing. Well, that routine has stopped! I do not take Advil to sleep and upon waking, am able to put full weight on my right knee and walk with a normal gate. Its too early yet to see if my right quad muscles have/will build up to the same as my left but I believe they will. I have a normal walk pattern now. Before I could not hyperextend my right knee,  which is critical to a normal walk pattern. It just would not extend out and in trying to do that is where the pain would come from. Now I can, somewhat, hyperextend my right knee, still not all the way, but without pain which allows me to walk with a normal gate so all 4 of my quads get used.  I've lost 8 lbs., ride my bike a bit more to strengthen the quads, and give the knees support, and two treatments of PRP-therapy. As well I have had 2 treatments of Prolo therapy. Before Dr. Brown I saw two orthopedic surgeons with lots of x-rays.  They both maintained I had a degenerative, osteoarthritic  knee, with, you could see on the x-rays, very little meniscus left. They were very matter-of-fact in insisting, give up soccer and get an artificial knee.  Perhaps in 20 years from now, when I hit my 80's, but not now.  I still have a lot of movement and locomotion with a healthy heart and pretty good cardio. The pain is minimal to non-existent. If I did not start and stop abruptly, with light kicking (playing soccer--I'm right footed) , I'd probably have no pain. But I can tolerate the little pain for what I get out of it and I am able to walk, jog and/or ride my bike immediately after or a day later with out my previous characteristic limp.  I am very pleased with the results and I believe, as I stay active and exercise, the results will be permanent.

For 3 years I have been walking with a limp and back pain... (with) the amazing Prolotherapy and PRP I have recovered significantly... I am able to jog, work out and play competition badminton which I thought I would never play again since my injury.

In late 2004 I have injured my back from carrying a 40 lbs. box with a bad posture and I ended up with a herniated disc which limited my motion and on top of all that I pulled my right groin and hip muscle from doing breast stroke 2 weeks later during swimming which left me with pain that was unbearable. Countless sessions of physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture and massage only gave me temporary pain relief. I have even gone to a specialist to see if there was any other solution to my condition, but ended up with no positive resolution. For 3 years I have been walking with a limp and back pain that would flare up just about all the time and even while just simply sitting down.  I was not able to do any sports that I enjoyed like badminton and bowling nor simply watch a movie at the theatres without pain or discomfort. At times I could not even sit for more than 10 minutes at work as my job requires me to be in front of a computer most of the time. All I can say is that my life was just all downhill no matter what I did or t I not do, because pain was always in my mind constantly. Fortunately in 2007 I found Dr. Brown at Integrative Healing Arts and with his help and the amazing Prolotherapy and PRP I have recovered significantly from it and now I can do my regular activities without pain. I am able to jog, work out and play competition badminton which I thought I would never play again since my injury. I have a whole new life ahead of me that I can enjoy and am able to do activities that I normally do if it weren’t for Prolotherapy and Dr. Brown’s healing hands. To this day I am still seeing Dr. Brown for regular maintenance.

Thank you Dr. Hal Brown for your kindness and a bunch of great help! You are the best!

A few sessions of PRP was well worth the time and money as it would have cost more time, money and inconvenience to have surgery again or to leave the injury to worsen over time

After having surgery on my left rotator cuff, I wanted to try everything possible to prevent surgery on the right shoulder after suspecting I had a tear there as well. PRP made so much sense to me and thank goodness I trusted the process. The pain was relieved enough to recover the confidence that my body could heal itself. I was in chronic pain when I started and after each session of PRP, the pain subsided bit by bit and I was able to start a good rehab program. After I had my 1st PRP injection, my MRI arrived and did show a tear that was worthy of surgery and by the end of my 3rd PRP session, I no longer needed surgery because I was only having pain if I stressed my shoulder from improper use or heavy weight bearing. Physiotherapy and Qigong supported my recovery. If it were not for PRP, I can't imagine the pain cycle could have ever been broken by anything else as effective and with a positive long lasting outcome. A few sessions of PRP was well worth the time and money as it would have cost more time, money and inconvenience to have surgery again or to leave the injury to worsen over time. I stumbled across PRP at a critical time and I am most certainly glad I did, thank you Dr. Brown!

Peace,

"Today my back feels significantly stronger.  My whole body actually feels quite different"

Working with Hal through manipulations and prolotherapy for the last two months has really transformed my body. I have been a tree planter for the last 9 years and an acrobat for even longer. My body is my temple but it is also my “money maker” and my creative outlet. For the past several years I’ve developed increasingly severe lower back pain. Working at the Vancouver Circus School for the past year my back pain reached the point of unbearable, and my lumbar spine started to slip out of place. I exhausted every treatment I could find; acupuncture, yoga, physiotherapy, rolfing, massage and chiropractic. Nothing gave me anything more than temporary relief. Fortunately a close friend and one of Hal’s fourth year students at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine recommended Hal. Two months ago we started prolotherapy treatments. Today my back feels significantly stronger. My whole body actually feels quite different, my posture has improved and my movements come from a place of stability and alignment. I’m back on the trapeze and flipping on the trampolines in total comfort, it’s incredible how quickly the treatments took effect. Hal was also such a pleasure to be treated by. He has an incredible way of reading your body and knowing what needs to be healed.

Thanks Hal, when I’m back in town come by and jump on the circus trampolines!

PRP for knee osteoarthritis: "Best of all, I cancelled the knee replacement surgery."

I suffered from osteoarthritis in both knees for 6 years. I walked with a lot of pain and had to give up work. Daily living became a task. I had had arthroscopy, tried physiotherapy, acupuncture and laser therapy. All helped to some degree, but were only temporarily successful. I was scheduled for knee replacement at the time I first consulted with Dr. Brown. He began treating me with prolotherapy and then I decided to try PRP treatment. It is now 9 months since the last PRP injections. My flexibility and mobility have increased by 60%. The pain is so decreased that I rarely take medication anymore. Best of all, I cancelled the knee replacement surgery. I can walk better, do normal household work again, feel more mobility and am overall happy with a better quality of life. I would definitely recommend this to others with similar problems. Many people in the conventional medical field are not aware of this treatment. I am very thankful to you Dr. Brown, for making daily living so much better for me.

"I have discovered prolotherapy, and it's like discovering a miracle cure"

Having had an extension injury in my shoulder and lived with it for 5 years, not knowing there was a way it could be cured, I was very happy to discover that there was a way to cure it! I am now able to do
activities I could not do without incurring pain and discomfort, and I now have strength and endurance in the joint that I have not experienced for a long time. I have discovered prolotherapy, and it's like discovering a miracle cure. Prolotherapy works.

Thank you!

"I'm pretty wowed how my body has healed with the PRP over time"

Dec. 27, 2009

It has almost been 5 weeks since my PRP appointment and there has been improvement. My body was not sore and I was back at athletics in a few days.

I've been doing three basic core exercises a few times a day which has helped build my core strength immensely. Despite the extra strength, my lower left back is still ready to spasm at any imbalance. I can't wait for the spasm reaction to go away. My lower back itself seems better as I can roll over in bed without aggravation. Again, the spasm is more the issue for my agility.

Noticeable improvement in my right index finger knuckle though still tender to touch or put pressure on.

It's been cold in Edmonton though the x-c skiing was awesome when I did get out.

Dec. 29, 2009

the back spasms have eased as my lower back is only stiff in the mornings and I'm not ready to roll into a ball with a back spasm like before.

Jan 4, 2010

Super duper good news to report... 3 days after seeing you, I was trail running and had the best agility I have had for a very long time. The back ceasing feeling was barely there. Wow, very noticeable as my footwork on the rough terrain was at ease again. Still on the path to 100% but incredible improvement!!

Shoulder, knee, groin all seem OK. The most thrilling news is about the back.

Thanks again, and will check in a few more weeks down the road.

Mar 5, 2010

Improvement in my overall body has been great. My agility is much better, the lower back spasms mostly subsided (still can be provoked), "no pain" in my index finger! X-c skiing has been fun. Now, I'm back on the road bike

"Now, thanks to Hal and prolotherapy, I'm back on the trails and have finally started running again after a full year off"

I have been an avid hiker, distance runner, cyclist, yogi, and generally active person for years. Almost 2 years ago I developed a nagging ache in my hip that, over the course of about 6 months, progressed to intense pain and weakness. Any exercise became impossible, and even walking uphill was difficult. It even hurt to sit still. The hardest part for me was not being able to run. I tried everything — physiotherapy, massage, sports medicine, acupuncture, natural remedies, medication, chiropractic — but nobody could even explain what was wrong, let alone help my hip.

Six months ago, I went to see Hal on the recommendation of a friend. He was able to determine the cause of my pain and weakness on my first visit, and immediately started me on a course of prolotherapy. I was apprehensive at first — I wasn't sure how injecting dextrose into my joints was going to help, but I was desperate and willing to try anything. Now I'm telling everyone about the magic "corn syrup" injections (dextrose is a sugar derived from corn) that finally fixed my hip problem. (Since I do research that is largely based on criticizing our corn-based food and agriculture system, most people – including me – find this quite amusing.)

Now, thanks to Hal and prolotherapy, I'm back on the trails and have finally started running again after a full year off. I'm almost completely pain free and feeling stronger by the day.....and it feels GOOD!!

My life had really come to a halt and I spent most of my time on my bed and could only get around with a wheel chair or cane...The recovery from these treatments has been totally amazing.

Two days after a minor rear end collision, the pain in my back started. I started treatment with my physiotherapist. For 5 months, I was treated every week and as days went by the pain increased until I was bedridden most of the time. My life had really come to a halt and I spent most of my time on my bed and could only get around with a wheel chair or cane. My husband and I checked into what the medical profession had to offer and were very discouraged to find out there wasn't much treatment for back pain except pain management with narcotics.

We consulted a trusted and experienced alternative medicine practitioner and she recommended Prolo treatment. In March and April I received both Neuro-Prolo and Prolo treatment from a local practitioner, but only had temporary pain relief.

On April 26th, 5 months after the accident, I was in such extreme pain I was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. They did a CT Scan and it showed I had injuries on either side of my lower spine. All this time I had been treated for the wrong injury.

At this point I was recommended to Dr. Hal Brown. Because I was in such pain he gave me a Prolo treatment that day using Ultra Sound to guide him. When I first saw Dr. Brown the most severe pain was in my lower left back shooting down my leg. The result was miraculous and I was pain free on the left side right away (this is not a usual result from a first treatment).

I saw Dr. Brown for 6 more treatments over the next 2 and a half months and gradually had less pain on my right side. Pain on my left side has not reoccurred to date. The recovery from these treatments has been totally amazing. Now I am confident that I will not be a semi- invalid and that I can actually be pain free. I can sit, stand, walk without pain most of the time. There is still a minimal amount of pain on my right side with a lot of activity and certain movements so I still need a little healing on that side. Prolo treatment does not just mask the pain but treats the injury and regenerates the tendons and ligaments to make them strong again.

I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Brown to anyone who has had a back injury. He is very experienced and the fact that he has an ultrasound machine to guide him is a huge advantage. With ultra sound he can see the injury and work directly on that spot.

If you have had an injury to your back don't give up there is definitely hope with Prolo treatment.

"My hands and wrists are so much stronger and more comfortable now. I can pick up frying pans when full and no pain, using power tools etc are easy again.  My feet are fine, I can walk and hike without pain.  PRP was very successful"

Dr. Brown, you gave me 4 sets of injections on my fingers and wrists and 2 sets on my feet between Dec.2011 and May 2012.  I am very diligent about my anti-inflammatory diet and allergens, so I do not have much in the way of flare-ups with the arthritis - this has had to have been key in the success of this treatment for me.  My hands and wrists are so much stronger and more comfortable now. I can pick up frying pans when full and no pain, using power tools etc are easy again.  My feet are fine, I can walk and hike without pain.  PRP was very successful and I thought you would like the feedback for others.  Thank you for all your kindness.

"I hope that anyone who thinks that years of pain can be taken away in an instant will heed my advice to stick with it and give the therapy time to work. It was well worth it to me"

Dr. Brown,
Thanks so much for relieving the pain in my elbows and shoulders. My elbows are stronger than ever and pain free a year after getting prolotherapy treatments and adjustments. My rotator cuff is now on the mend and I am so grateful that you were recommended to me by a golf buddy. After years of pain and discomfort and numerous visits to the doctors and therapists, I finally feel that I have an ally in a healthier and pain free life. I appreciate your hard work and study and dedication and strongly recommend that anyone with pain put themselves in your hands. Some of those that i have recommended to you come to me and tell me that they don't think the prolotherapy worked after just one visit. I know how disappointing this is but as you say "You don't plant seeds on Saturday and expect carrots on Sunday." I hope that anyone who thinks that years of pain can be taken away in an instant will heed my advice to stick with it and give the therapy time to work. It was well worth it to me. A few hours of discomfort can bring you great relief.
Thanks again for all your help,

Harvey Bowman, Vancouver

It was amazing, I feel like my old self, it was so rapid... I can't believe more people are not aware of the PRP treatment.

I first saw Dr. Brown for severe low back pain.  I had back pain for 2 years, but for 6 months it was getting worse. It was so bad that any wrong movement left me in bed.  A CT scan showed a compressed and bulging disc, rubbing on a nerve.  My life had become unpredictable because some days I became immobile.  Even putting my daughter in her car seat had become painful and worrisome.  I received some chiropractic treatments that were helpful, but it only provided a short term relief.  I saw Dr. Brown for PRP treatment. He treated some back ligaments and my sacro-iliac joints.  I received 2 treatments over 3 months.  Within weeks of the first treatment I was already feeling pain free.  It was amazing, I feel like my old self, it was so rapid.  Before the treatment I couldn't pick up groceries, get in and out of the car with any ease, put on shoes, run, jump or get to the gym.  I can do all of these things now with zero pain.  I can't believe more people are not aware of the PRP treatment.

"My pain level was reduced to the point that I could return to work. Prolotherapy truly works and is the only treatment that has provided me with long term pain reduction"

I began prolotherapy with Hal in March, 2008 after my brother's friend recommended I see him. I had an accident in May, 2003, when I was catapulted through the air and injured my left shoulder, arm, and back. I had endured constant pain, which varied in intensity from moderate to excruciating pain for almost five years when I began the treatment. At the time of the accident, I was teaching Physical Education, coaching sports, and was extremely active in my spare time. Suddenly, I was unable to do my job, any of my favourite outdoor sports/activities or even my housework. I tried everything over the next five years; chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage, and many other treatments including Botox injections. I was getting worse instead of better and I was taken off work by a specialist. Some days my head would be stuck sideways due to muscle spasms and pain or I would get 'stuck' when my back went into spasm suddenly. Most days, I couldn't lift my left arm to put my coat on due to the searing pain in my shoulder. I had been on disability for over a year when I began having prolotherapy. After my first treatment I could turn my head fully from side to side, which I hadn't been able to do for years. My pain level was reduced to the point that I could return to work this past September (2008). Prolotherapy truly works and is the only treatment that has provided me with long term pain reduction. The tingling and numbness I was feeling in my hand even went away. I'm forever grateful to Hal for his caring, compassionate nature and his knowledge/skill/talent which has put me on the path to recovery.

Post PRP report: "It is the first time in almost 7 years she has had the mobility in her arm to stretch it over her head, she can turn her head & even her thumb mobility is better"..."Carolanne had even been up dancing with the 2 little boys. Amazing!!!"

I am Carolanne's mother  and I want to provide feedback to you after only one week from the time she had her PRP treatment.  She was here for dinner last night. It is the first time in almost 7 years she has had the mobility in her arm to stretch it over her head, she can turn her head & even her thumb mobility is better. Thank you so much...there is hope now of getting her life back!!

Carolanne is much loved by her friends and family and we were very disturbed to observe her in such constant and debilitating pain.  When I tell people she has gone to your clinic, they ask about the treatment and most have never heard of prolotherapy.  She commented to me that she visited a friend., her husband & 2 sons  on Sat. night who are now living in Victoria,( they have hiked, skiied & worked out at the gym together when they both lived in Vancouver). Her friend commented to her during the visit that she was shocked to see the position Carolanne was sitting in (relaxed & with her feet under her--had not happened since before the accident).  Carolanne had even been up dancing with the 2 little boys (age 4 & 7). Amazing!!!

I have had to go and do Carolanne's vacuuming for the past 3 years (I am 69 years of age & vacuuming is definitely not my favourite past time) and her health & safety has been a constant worry for me, as often her back has gone into spasm causing so much pain that she cannot walk or get out of bed.  I have had to go over on many occasions to either take her to ER or help her in some way.  I cannot tell you the relief this gives me to see this improvement and the gratitude I feel towards you for giving her hope.  She tells me that you give her a comprehensive examination on each visit and the results of the treatment are truly remarkable.  The other bonus will be when she is pain free she will be able to stop the remaining pain medications, as I worry about the long-term effect on her kidneys and liver. Her back is still sore, but the muscle spasms are smaller and not as painful and the mobility is amazingly improved.  I cannot thank you enough.

We all are very grateful to you--as you know she has tried every other treatment options.

"Under his care I have been able to continue my beloved annual backpacking expedition into the wilderness every summer"

We call Dr. Hal the “mechanic”, not for any likeness to Charles Bronson but for his extraordinary understanding of the human body and his skill and ability to help keep an aging body running. His arsenal of knowledge, founded in many different healing disciplines, affords him a unique ability to offer several possible solutions to a particular problem and to treat it accordingly.
Many of my issues to date have been joint related and I have found his prolotherapy treatments particularly effective for my problems. Before I learned about prolo, the same issues would keep re-occurring with elbows and knees despite extensive physiotherapy, acupuncture and massage treatments. Dr. Hal‘s administrations have changed all this and I think he is especially gifted in administering this treatment.
For me, a visit with him is always a positive experience. He has great communication skills and always answers my questions directly and thoroughly which I appreciate. He has a great sense of humour (which happily keeps me distracted when needles are being stuck into some part of me) but his "upbeatness” is never at a cost to me feeling that my wellbeing is not his first and only concern.
For me, a visit to Dr. Hal restores a sense of possibility to the challenges I face in my own aging process. I feel that he is my partner helping to maintain my good health and welfare.
Under his care I have been able to continue my beloved annual backpacking expedition into the wilderness every summer.

He is my first choice of health practitioner and the one I turn to first when I need advice or help on a health issue.

Dr. Hal – you rock!

20 years of being highly active in wheelchair sports ... For over a year I had stopped doing all of my favorite activities. I became weak and depressed as I nurtured my bum wrist. ...About six months into treatment significant improvement was noticeable, and after one year my left wrist was stronger, completely pain free and capable again of handling my active lifestyle.

Thank you Dr. Hal Brown, you are Yoda!

I came to see Dr. Brown about two years ago after being diagnosed by my MD, and confirmed by a rheumatologist, with osteoarthritis in the left wrist. The condition was probably due to the previous 20 years of being highly active in wheelchair sports. Accompanying the diagnosis were instructions to protect the wrist because "the
conditions will only get worse". For over a year I had stopped doing all of my favorite activities. I became weak and depressed as I nurtured my bum wrist. During this time I experienced no improvement. Life in a wheelchair became more difficult trying to
operate predominantly one-handed! I accepted and tolerated this condition for a few years but eventually began
searching for help. I had read about prolotherapy, but I must confess, I was a skeptic. However there was no other hope for treatment so I proceeded to make an appointment at Integrative..
During my first visit, Dr. Brown ensured me that the condition of my wrist was quite treatable and that I could expect to see a positive outcome. Over the course of the following year I received 7 or 8 sessions of prolotherapy. In the beginning improvements seemed minimal but I adhered to the treatment being informed that the
joint would take time to heal. About six months into treatment significant improvement was noticeable, and after one year my left wrist was stronger, completely pain free and capable again of handling my active lifestyle. I can't express in words the gratitude I feel for Dr. Brown. My life-style which I thought had been irreversibly changed, has been restored.

Thank you Dr. Hal Brown, you are Yoda!

"After 10 years of feeling defeated by severe low back pain, I now have a whole new outlook."

Dear Dr. Brown: Your prolotherapy treatments have changed my life. After 10 years of feeling defeated by severe low back pain, I now have a whole new outlook. Pain levels are down by 90%. No longer confined to short day hikes, I can now do what I love and carry a backpack into the mountains. I've started running the forest trails again. I sleep through the night and no longer wake several times yelling in pain. I feel more rested and relaxed after a decade of chronic fatigue from poor sleep. I get out of bed each morning with enthusiasm.

Thank you for your skillful and sensitive administration of prolotherapy I am and will be forever grateful.

Garry G., Vancouver, B.C.

Follow up message:

I have another significant prolo win to share with you. It relates to the theatre seat" symptoms which I've presented for years. Once a favourite thing to do, I've gradually withdrawn from going to the theatre or movies because it's so uncomfortable for me. I typically squirm through every performance. Friends who've been to shows & movies with me know better than to invite me out again. On Friday my girlfriend took me to see Romeo & Juliet at Bard on the Beach which was 3 hours long. I sat up straight and was relaxed in my body and low back throughout the show. That really got my attention! I don't recall being able to do that for over a decade, at least. I've decided to invite her to a show now. Something I wouldn't have wasted time or money on in the past.

Another valued aspect of my life, once narrowed and frustrating, is now reinstated. My life continues to be enriched by the incredible work you are doing. And I am so very grateful.

Thank you again and again!!

Garry

Chronic low back pain for 20 years:

"Dr. Brown’s calming manner and positivity made it easy to put my trust in him and the treatments. After several treatments the pain was greatly reduced and after several months I began to have long periods of time without any pain at all! "

I’ve had chronic low back pain for 20 years. There was a constant ache and sharp pains would come and go. The problem got worse over the last 3 years and I had acute episodes which left me bedridden. I had tried every treatment, physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, bowen therapy, medication etc. Most of the treatments would give me only temporary relief for a day or so. At its worst I was in constant pain, unable to even walk for longer than 10 minutes at a time and unable to participate in family activities. Then I began Prolotherapy treatments with Dr. Brown, which he combined with spinal adjustments. The treatments were somewhat uncomfortable but Dr. Brown’s calming manner and positivity made it easy to put my trust in him and the treatments. After several treatments the pain was greatly reduced and after several months I began to have long periods of time without any pain at all. Before the treatments I could not function without pain, even to kick a ball around with my 6 year old. Now I can do activities I have not done in years without pain. I would recommend this treatment to others. My advice is to keep with it. As your body heals and adjusts you will eventually feel stronger. Put in the time and it will pay off.

Thanks Dr. Brown

"I can recommend it wholeheartedly"

Attached is a snapshot of me (bearded/foreground) laying a floor in a cabin. Precisely one year earlier I was almost immobile from back strain despite my many years of Pilates, etc. After a brief series of manipulations and acupuncture with Hal I opted for prolotherapy. The results were immediate and enduring. OK, the process is painful but there is no doubt in my mind as to its effectiveness and safety. With Dr. Brown's able hand I have addressed some long-standing/chronic injuries and have resumed all of my activities - many of which - such as Pilates, Tai Chi and cabin renovations - require a strong and flexible body. I can recommend it wholeheartedly. Thanks Hal.

"My daily pain has subsided, and I have a better quality of life... Thanks to you I have my life back and it continues to get better each day".

I wanted to touch base and let you know how I was doing and how much I appreciate your help in my getting well. My daily pain has subsided, and I have a better quality of life. I have been working with a physiotherapist to build up my core, and have started to work out daily.

Thanks to you I have my life back and it continues to get better each day. At this time, I am moving to Newfoundland to start a business and do not believe I will be back in Vancouver for a while, but will definitely see you the next time I am in the city.

All the best to you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help!

TMJ pain: After 3 PRP treatments, it is 99% better now.

Knee osteoarthritis: 4 PRP treatments, I can now run up and down the stairs a dozen times plus walk 3 miles in a day.

I've talked to a lot of people about these treatments  because most of us haven't heard about it I highly recommend this and feel the cost is worth it.

My husband and I became aware of Dr. Hal Brown's PRP and prolotherapy treatments after a friend of ours had an accident at work. Despite using treatments available to us (we live in northern BC) she couldn't work and life was very painful. After PRP she is working full time and is basically pain free.

I went to Dr Brown for two problems; knees and my right jaw. The knees had slowly deteriorated for the past 10 years, especially when we moved into a house with stairs. Even though I've used a chiropractor since 1986 there was no other treatment for knees that I knew of. At that time I was a can-can dancer . When I retired from dance the problem arose slowly, sharp pain. difficulty going up and down the stairs. I could only do one step at a time. I had pain walking.

I received my first PRP in 2011. I've had four treatments on my knees. Despite painful injections, each treatment got easier and I healed quicker each time.  I can now run up and down the stairs a dozen times plus walk 3 miles in a day. If pain occurs it is a dull ache and does not last long.

My jaw (TMJ) was stressed from opening too wide. After 3 treatments, it is 99% better now.

I've talked to a lot of people about these treatments  because most of us haven't heard about it I highly recommend this and feel the cost is worth it.

I am now adding additional treatments for other problems that have recently developed.

Thank you for everything.

"This treatment has added 10 years to my life and I would recommend it to anyone with similar problems"

Before seeing Dr. Brown for the first time I had experienced 30 years of back pain and 3 years of neck pain.  I had been seeing many chiropractors, and no matter what type of treatment I received, the adjustments would not hold and I would be in pain again.  My pain was so severe that I had trouble getting up from sitting or lying by myself.  Dr. Brown began treating me with acupuncture, activator adjustments and then prolotherapy.  Receiving prolotherapy was difficult but Dr. Brown was very understanding and always encouraging.  After 2 months of treatment I began to feel better and now about a year and a half later I have no pain.  As well my eczema has gone, I have lost 17 pounds, I feel stronger physically, mentally and emotionally.  Before treatment it was difficult to walk.  Now I walk 45 minutes a day without pain. I feel more confident, more stable and more assertive.

This treatment has added 10 years to my life and I would recommend it to anyone with similar problems.

"After undergoing 6 treatments, I've been pain free for the past 3 month"

I've had Hal Brown as my naturopathic practitioner for for the past 15 years now, and he's always helped me with the aches and pains that come with the physical aspects of my job as a gardener. About 6 years ago, I developed a chronic, nagging pain in the lower lumbar area of my back. Hal would treat me for it, but the pain always returned. He said that I'd damaged the ligaments in the area, and suggested prolotherapy as a means to rebuild and strengthen them. I was sceptical at first, but decided to try it. After undergoing 6 treatments, I've been pain free for the past 3 months, the problem cured.

Now, when I get out of bed every morning with no back ache, I think to myself "God bless ya Hal".

"My GP diagnosed it as tennis elbow and said it would heal itself. It did not"

I was experiencing elbow pain for 3 months without any relief. My GP diagnosed it as tennis elbow and said it would heal itself. It did not. I was experiencing limited function and strength in my arm, constant pain, bad enough to disturb my sleep. Dr. Brown gave me two prolotherapy treatments and adjustments to my elbow, the strength has returned to my arm and the pain is almost gone.

"I have the same ROM (range of motion) I had previous to developing frozen shoulder."

Hello K.: B. was speaking with me today and mentioned that you are dealing with a frozen shoulder. I'm not sure if you are as frustrated as I was.  In September 2003, I developed frozen shoulder and over the next 8 months tried everything I knew, to no avail. I started with my doctor, did chiropractic, acupuncture, physiotherapy, naturopathic... People at work were telling me I should make an appointment at UBC Sports Medicine Clinic and would probably have to have surgery.

In April 2004, a friend recommended that I see Dr. Hal Brown for prolotherapy.  At the time, I had never heard of it. I did not want to even consider surgery and at that point was willing to try anything. I call Dr. Brown my miracle worker. I first saw him in April 2004 and at the initial appointment he told me that within 6 treatments I should have greater range of motion (ROM). He did a combination of neuraltherapy and prolotherapy. It worked wonders and he was correct about the increased ROM. In July of that year, my husband and I backpacked in Europe for a month. I had no problem with my shoulder.

I have the same ROM I had previous to developing "frozen shoulder." Actually, Dr. Brown referred to it as something else, but can't remember what. All I knew at the time was that I could barely lift my arm away from my leg, never mind lifting it up. Putting on clothes (shirts, sweaters, jackets), seat belt etc. was a real challenge.

I will be eternally grateful to the person who recommended I see Dr. Brown and then to him for his skill. He is also a very kind and warm person. I think you will really like him and I highly recommend you schedule an appointment.

His office is "Integrative Healing Arts" and is located at Broadway and Birch in Vancouver. Phone number is 604-738-1012. I suggest you check out his web site for more information:www.drhalbrown.com

"My quality of life has changed drastically"

I started seeing Dr. Brown in March of 2007 after retiring from my own business. I was feeling light headed and stressed all the time. My digestive system was also not working properly. Thanks to Dr. Brown by November I was able to go back to work part time, because I was feeling so much better. I am more focused, relaxed, am not dizzy anymore, and my stomach issues have been totally resolved. My quality of life has changed drastically as a result of going to Dr. Brown. I also found that in working with Dr. Brown, if he could save me money on a product or treatment he would. I trust him totally.

"I am so happy to have a functioning jaw again!!"

Hi Dr. Brown: Just wanted to say a big Thank You for helping me!  After the last visit my jaw finally released.  I've eaten sushi a few times and have been back to eating in public!  I will come and see you for a follow up this or next week depending on our schedules.  But just wanted to say thanks ... I am so happy to have a functioning jaw again!!
hope you are well,

plantar fasciitis: "I would say that the treatment was very, very successful. I’m still running virtually pain-free"

As an active recreational long distance runner enamoured with half-marathons, I was bothered by chronic plantar fasciitis. Although I ran with minor discomfort for a number of months, the pain after my first race of the year was too significant to ignore any longer. After a number of physiotherapy treatments with an outstanding PT but without much relief, I concluded that if I wanted to run again, I needed another remedy.

Off I went to Integrative Healing Arts seeking some much needed help. At my request, I had an acupuncture treatment. Hal had suggested Prolotherapy but I wanted something with which I was familiar and that was less painful. The treatment didn’t really help, however. I researched Prolotherapy on the Web and with my PT. It sounded mildly appealing but walking, never mind running was becoming more painful so I had to do something!

Back I went to Hal for some Prolotherapy. He mentioned that it might be painful and he was right…. very painful, in fact. After a double strength treatment, my foot swelled so much that I doubted my decision to engage in this treatment. About a month later, after the swelling diminished so did the pain. With one more treatment, I was 95% pain-free most of the time. That was amazing! But could I run pain-free? That would be the true test of success. Three kilometers led to the 5 K CIBC Run for the Cure that led to the H2H relay race that led to the Fall Classic 10 K race. The following Spring and Summer seasons brought me two half-marathon finisher medals. So, I would say that the treatment was very, very successful. I’m still running virtually pain-free; the occasional twinge is quite manageable. Would I have more Prolotherapy? The answer is yes! Would I recommend this treatment to others? I already have!

Thanks, Hal.

"I had just about given up on ever being free of pain of ever getting well again until I received prolotherapy treatments"

Thank you Dr. Hal Brown,

I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Hal Brown not only for easing my pain each time I see him but most importantly to him for restoring my spirit. I had just about given up on ever being free of pain of ever getting well again until I received prolotherapy treatments.

I had seen so many doctors, been hospitalized so many times, done shiatsu, acupuncture, with no improvement at all. Sometimes I would get a little relief from pain that did not even last the whole day. Then I went to see Dr. Brown for prolotherapy. He is a very good listener. He is very patient and he is very good at healing. He makes sure I leave his office feeling better than I came in.

Before I went to see Dr. Brown I felt like I was sinking in quick sand very slowly with everyone looking on and nobody helping me. My body was twisted my neck had disappeared into my chest. my stomach was always bloated people always asked me how far along my pregnancy was, but I was not pregnant. Even in the Hospital whenever I was being admitted the first test they would do was for pregnancy. Ask any woman who wanted to have children but couldn’t how they would feel being asked if they are pregnant when they are not, or about being tested for pregnancy when there isn’t even the remotest chance that they could be.

Everyone tells you about losing weight, changing your diet, exercising without knowing you or knowing the details of your health. I had been tested through the medical system for almost anything they could think of. I know everything I don’t have but they don’t know what I wrong with me because they don’t listen. They go by the text book. Dr. Brown listened and continues to listen and treat me. Each time I come with a different problem- I always leave feeling much much better than I came in feeling. I am beginning to see my neck again, my skin is looking and feeling alive again.

"It is now 8 years later and I have not had one symptom. I am completely cured"

A cure for the incurable…
My medical doctor said to me that I had “Incurable ulcerative colitis and that I had better start taking some (expensive) drugs and join a support group”. After thinking about that for a moment, and deciding I was not going to have this disease, I said to myself, “You’re no longer my doctor”. I decided to go the natural, alternative route and a friend recommended Hal. Hal spent the time to work with me in finding out all the internal and external causes.

After some testing, we found that I had allergies to a variety of foods. I also discovered I had some external stress in my life that I never made the connection was contributing to my condition. Hal had advised me that it was possible to reduce my symptoms if not cure them completely – but it would take some work. Hal designed a strict program for me to follow, and I followed it!

Within 10 months, I was completely symptom free. Not only did I stop having symptoms of colitis, I learned how my body works with food and how to manage my diet and stress levels for optimal health.

It is now 8 years later and I have not had one symptom. I am completely cured. I am eternally grateful for this result.

"I have since fully recovered my health, embarked upon a new and exciting career and have the energy and excitement to live a full and satisfying life."

"When I first saw Hal (should it be Dr. Brown??) in 1999 I had been off work for several months with a number of chronic health problems, some of which dated back 28 years. As a teenager I missed most of grade 10 due to health problems, and later, in my early years of practicing law, I was off work for close to a year. I saw more allopathic specialists than I can count and was getting nowhere with allopathic medicine. One specialist told me that I had a condition that would very likely prevent me from working and having regular relationships for the rest of my life. Nothing could have been further from the truth!

Within 1.5 months of seeing Dr. Brown, I began experiencing consistently positive, dramatic health benefits. I have since fully recovered my health, embarked upon a new and exciting career and have the energy and excitement to live a full and satisfying life."

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Hal Brown for being an essential part of my Vancouver healing team -- whenever some ache or pain sends me the message that I am not taking good enough care of myself. A friend recommended him to me several years ago when I was suffering from a lower back problem. The pain was rather typical lower back pain until the disk “ruptured.” When it became excruciating and chronic, doctors at Vancouver General Hospital recommended an operation to place rods into my lower back to stabilize the spinal column. Dr. Brown asked me to wait for 6 months. With his guidance, he told me that I could learn how to heal my own body's structural pain. And, I did! I have no back pain any more. What did he do? He carefully examined me. It was not the usual examination. For the first time, I felt that a doctor was able to integrate all the body parts. But more. He integrated the body, the emotions, the overall energy, and he was able to help me to listen to both the primary and secondary causes of the pain. To this day, when I walk into his office, I sense that he understands my whole being. And he treats me with respect and good humor. Nothing is too hard to deal with. While I cannot attempt to understand what has taken him thirty years to learn, I do know that he has a gift in caring and healing. I know he will take the time required to find the origin of the problem so that I can work on it , deal with it, and in many cases heal it on my own.

"I feel more energetic and healthy and have recommended him to many of my friends and family members"

I first visited Dr. Brown in January 1990 after two car accidents that left me with persistent back and neck pain. By May, the numbness in my fingers and my back pain was gone. Since that time, Dr. Brown has treated me for numerous maladies, from menopause to bladder infections. Problems that other doctors have prescribed medication for have been successfully cured by Dr. Brown’s natural, homeopathic techniques. I travel extensively overseas and many times I have returned home with stomach illnesses that Dr. Brown has treated me for. After seeing him, I feel more energetic and healthy and have recommended him to many of my friends and family members who have seen him for depression, allergies and cancer.

"He's a doctor with skill, heart, respect and genuine dedication."

Dr. Hal Brown has been one my of health professionals over the past 10 years. I've recommended him often to my friends and colleagues. I find his diagnostic skills at pin-pointing the root of a particular problem (usually pain or body part not working properly) especially brilliant. On one occasion, having to emcee a wedding later that night, I was bent over with inexplicable agonizing back pain. I was able to get in to see him, to get the treatment I needed so I could do my important job that evening. He cheerily worked on me until I was 'as good as new' and then to top it off, gave me some pointers on doing a good job as emcee. He's a doctor with skill, heart, respect and genuine dedication.

"I would not be here to type this mail today if it was not for Hal Brown and his colleagues, and I am now closing in on 80yrs of age"

Many years ago my physician recommended that I see Hal Brown , since my physical system was in fact deteriorating rapidly due to previous and earlier life choices. In my childhood, and teenage days I witnessed events that 75% of the general human species could not have seen or experienced , and I carried these images around until Hal began treatment some 20 years ago. Presently I see Hal perhaps 2 or three times a year for maintenance and check up, and I strongly believe that I would not be here to type this mail today if it was not for Hal Brown and his colleagues, and I am now closing in on 80yrs of age. Some idea of the malfunctions of my human system was evidenced in the Liver, Lungs, Bowel, Kidneys and several other "minor organs" that form the essence of life, that were not functioning as designed, particularly with other organs. Hal taught me to understand what the human body could do, and the body knows what is good for its survival. I participated in a video for Integrated Healing Arts some years ago, and my convictions today have not changed, from that video, Dr. Hal Brown is a life saver albeit my own, and I suspect many other people on this planet. I would have no difficulty recommending Hal Brown to any potential patient. May God bless him and his associates, and to continue their good work, ad infinitum.

"I was able to wean myself off all hydrocortisones and I now use asthma drugs rarely. ...and most significantly, the constant itch left me some time last year"

I have eczema accompanied with asthma. Skin specialists and physicians had been telling me until recently that I would have to use hydrocortisones and oral steroids for the rest of my life. I had a constant itch in my skin. With the medicines I was taking, the relief was instantaneous but the symptoms never left me. The asthma, the eczema and the itch were always there.

Dr. Brown was recommended to me by a mutual friend and we started on a course of action that has lead to steady improvement beyond what I had thought possible.

In just a few months I was able to wean myself off all hydrocortisones and I now use asthma drugs rarely. ...and most significantly, the constant itch left me some time last year and I'm coming to realize this is normal for me.

Dr. Brown's approach has been one of compassion and humour.

It has been important for me to understand that compared to traditional western medicine, improvement is measured sometimes in weeks and months but the effects are more permanent ... and there are no side effects.

I will continue my path of discovery with Dr. Brown.

With thanks and appreciation

"I am so pleased to have him to come to for help"

When I came to see Dr. Hal Brown in December of 2004 I was very sick. He gave me confidence in my own ability to heal myself using his guidance and my own hard work. Getting better was not easy and I confess I hated the initial cleanse consisting of veggies, rice and protein shakes. But I suffered through the experience of stripping myself of my addictions (sugar, carbs etc) and now that I'm much better I'm able to enjoy all the delicious foods that bring me so much joy. Hal not only attended to my physical issues, he offered a listening ear and the warmth of a good friend. Once when I was having a particularly hard day, I asked Hal if I could spend the morning in his office. All joking aside, Hal provides a safe place to get better and feel good. I am so pleased to have him to come to for help, both when I am sick and healthy. I highly recommend Dr. Hal Brown as a doctor because his empathy, knowledge and genius is undeniable. "I admire and respect your wide knowledge and remarkable range of healing skills"

Having worked with you for over four years now, I have many other reasons for which to appreciate you. For myself, I appreciate how you put into practice the philosophy of supporting me on my particular healing journey, whether in my own approach or in following the solutions you offer. I wish you could fix all my problems in the next appointment, but since that isn’t going to happen, I’ll just list a few of the things you have done for me.

The first thing I remember is how you helped me identify residual radiation poisoning in the leg which had been scanned for bone density and had never been the same since that scan. We have come a long way with removing the problem and others that came as ‘fallout’ from the scan. I have been working on possibly the most complex case of mercury poisoning you’ll ever see - and have found your most recent suggestion for how I can bind the mercury now coming out of my bones most helpful. I often don’t enjoy my treatments with you as they frequently involve injections, but I always appreciate the knowledge and logic behind them. We have also identified and treated a number of residual viral and bacterial infections long protected by the mercury in my soft tissues. Necessary, not fun, but done with Sanum remedies and other homeopathics so it went as well as it possibly could.

What you have achieved for my family members in just a few appointments is truly remarkable. My husband had severe foot pain which finally led to his consulting you in the week before he was leaving on an overseas sailing holiday. Two appointments using a combination of your chiropractic and neural therapy skills had him pain-free before he left. Scar treatment on my brother-in-law’s back surgery incision reduced his pain and increased his mobility considerably. Three treatments for pain related to carpal tunnel syndrome resulted in my sister’s full recovery within two weeks of seeing you.

In short, I admire and respect your wide knowledge and remarkable range of healing skills. I appreciate your honesty and humour and most of all your ability to accept and explore the validity of my knowledge even if it challenges yours. You have a rare combination of confidence and humility.

Thank you.  Sincerely,

Barbara Alldritt, Vancouver BC

"words cannot begin to express my gratitude"

I have been a patient of Dr. Hal Brown for many years and words cannot begin to express my gratitude toward him and my admiration for him as a person and a doctor.

It's very difficult to be succinct in describing the many qualities Dr. Brown brings to his practice.

  • He is exceptionally caring and when treating me, he always puts me first.
  • I appreciate that he works so hard to make me feel better and to support me at my optimum health.
  • He is always willing to challenge himself in the support of making me feel better.
  • All these years he has put me first and has supported me warmly and solidly even in my work with other practitioners.
  • He has a genuine love for people and authentically wants his clients to function at optimum health.
  • He always gives you whatever time you need for treatment. I was never rushed.
  • He is on time.
  • He is compassionate in listening to your health concerns.
  • Most than everything else he has a great sense of humor. I always have a laugh in his office.

Throughout my dealings with Dr. Brown I have found him to be professional, responsible and caring. When you combine all these traits including the positive value of laughter, you’ve got the perfect formula for a doctor.

"We want to express our gratitude to you for this improvement in Devin's health"

Dear Dr. Brown:

When I first brought my son Devin to see you, he was 2½ years old. He had been suffering from loose stools , ongoing colds and reoccurring ear infections, since he was weaned at 1½.  At that time you suggested Vega testing to see whether food sensitivity might be the cause of his depressed immune system.  The tests revealed that Devin was moderately sensitive to a number of foods especially wheat and dairy.  We completely removed all those foods from his diet for 3 weeks.  He was retested and only the wheat and dairy continued to bother him.

Almost immediately Devin's bowels movements were normal.  He has been free of colds and hasn't had an ear infection until January of this year.  This was followed by 2 more. It wasn't until I realized the soy milk he was drinking had wheat in it.  When we stop this, he returned to good health again.  If we had not had Devin tested and eliminated wheat and dairy from his diet, I am sure it would have been necessary to have tubes put in his ears to prevent further infections.

We want to express our gratitude to you for this improvement in Devin's health.  We are very grateful to you.

yours sincerely,

"this sort of help is hard to find"

Hello, my name is Jarek Rees. I have been in touch with chiropractic therapy since 1975 as the result of a series whiplash accidents. This set off a course of needed healing which not many are prepared for financially or mentally and being 50 now the deterioration a body sustains from an active lifestyle complicates things more. There are very few people in the world (as I am a active traveller as well) who posses the many healing techniques that Dr. Brown has accumulated from his natural approach as a naturopath and incredible knowing ness of the body structure. I have been a patient of his clinic for many years and will continue when in Canada for this sort of help is hard to find. Jarek Rees

"I am grateful that I and my health have been supported by such a knowledgeable healer"

I have been a patient of Dr. Hal Brown's for the past 20 years. During that time I have been involved in several car accidents--from which he has managed to successfully realign me... and in various dips and dives from optimal health, for which he has prescribed supplements, IV drips, manipulation, acupuncture, and various other treatments. In time of need, I seek Dr. Brown's support. His confident, welcoming presence is always the first step towards returning health--as many of my friends have also discovered, on referral. I am grateful that I and my health have been supported by such a knowledgeable healer.

Thanks Dr. Brown

"Thanks again for nine great years"

As a 23 year old in 1996, I met Dr. Brown and was immediately touched by his caring attitude.

Among my health concerns was a recurring infection that subsided when I was on antibiotics but then would return when I was off them. The only suggestion of medical doctors was to keep prescribing stronger antibiotics. Dr. Brown suggested I stop taking the antibiotics immediately and recommended various natural remedies and diet changes. Within a short period the infection disappeared and never returned. Additionally, my acne vanished, my energy levels picked up dramatically, sleep improved, and as well, another on-going embarrassing problem ended.

A few years later I was involved in a car accident where I was hit by another car from the side. Months later I still had the on going fear while driving that at any moment I was going to be hit again. I was treated with the NET method, and the fear went away and never came back.

Then years later, a few tiny red spots appeared in my eye area. After a couple of months, I went to a GP and his response was that there was nothing that could be done about them, they were merely the products of getting older and pointed to a whole bunch of similar specks on his face. Dr. Brown examined them and said they were due to toxins not being released in my face from clenching my jaw during the night. He recommended I get a night splint made from my dentist. Three days after using the splint the red spots disappeared and never came back.

Thanks again for nine great years!

GIVE THE HEART MORE STRENGTH

Herbs can help the body and give
the heart more strength
to love.

When my sight became clearer,
I could see auras around different foods,

and I now know—should I say this?—
that everything can sing.

The songs of fruits and grains will calm,
why not put them into yourself,
a new language you
will learn?

And just from touching life's requirements
close to their source
will add grace to your
movements.

More generous eyes we need.
The songs of light
will help
you.

St. Catherine of Sienna (1347 - 1380)

Thanks for helping me recover this year. Donna

Your acceptance as your treatment calmed my spirit and made life bearable again. MT

Dear Hal

Strong and steady and always there,
that is what you gave me
as I made my way across this stormy sea.
There is someone on the other side,
always there,
that is what you gave to me.
And on a clear day I can really see you
as light and love
and fire and wisdom
and truth and generosity
and earth
and hands and eyes.
And always you have been there,
this is what you have given me.

Deepest thanks
Shaune, Vancouver BC

Dear Hal
I want you to know how much I value your care - and how many times it feels like you save my life.

I am in Yelapa[Mexico] on my yearly R&R break, sitting under afternoon birds and boughanvillea- and I think of most gratefully of you. How many times you have used your hands and your mind to heal me and help me find my own inner healing, how often I come to you at my lowest ebb and you find a way to turn my tide and set me back on the road to balance and grace and how surely I am but one of hundereds or maybe thousands who you receive as if each is the only one and I want to thank you for doing what you do the way you do it.

With blessings and many thanks.
